Updated Tutorial Level

From our playtesting feedback, we noticed that some parts of the tutorial weren't clear enough and decided to make some changes. We have the player dash toward a wall instead of a crate so the player doesn't simply jump over the gap they must eat the wall. Additionally, we showcase that the eating range grows with size by placing an object very far and instructing the player to eat a tower. This teaches the player they must get big to dash to farther objects.

Explosive Puking Mechanic

If the player charges the puke long enough, they can now knock back multiple items at once. This gives more incentive to players to puke and keeps the game fresh with a new mechanic. Furthermore, there has been an update to the puke charge display. Instead of having a bar on the side of the screen, there is now a predicted trajectory to help players aim their pukes better. We have also made it so that objects puked hard enough will cause objects they hit to collapse, so your puking will impact the environment more realistically.

Menu and UI Improvement

We have updated the visuals of each of our menus using assets our artists made. We have also added volume sliders to allow players to change the master, music, and sound effect volumes separately. The inventory now visually displays the size and has a visual for the next item that will be puked by the player.

Challenges and Obstacles

  • The explosive puke mechanic needed to be fine tuned a lot so that it doesn't feel too weak or too destructive.
